Fades vs. Cuts

Post-production effects like fades, where an image dissolves into another, result in a high percentage of pixel change from frame to frame. As mentioned in the frame motion exhibition, content like this is harder to encode.

Comparing the two examples, you can see that to use cuts improve the compression result. You should avoid fades whenever possible.
