Signal coding

Digital signals transmitted between different communication systems must be decoded in a special way. There exist a variety of line codes and transmission codes. Important features of such codes are:

  • tact recovery
  • free of direct current
  • number of common coded values
The interactive tool on the right hand side visualizes some common signalcoding methods which differ in the way of how the different values of the digital signal are treated. You can enter a signal up to 12 values and see how the signal is coded with common codecs like the AMI, the NRZ or the Manchester code.
